Dale Anton Gerber

Dale Anton Gerber, 64, of Yoder, Indiana passed away Saturday morning, February 25, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born on April 30, 1958, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late M. Wayne and Lois A. (Heckler) Gerber.

Dale was united in marriage to Laurie A. Marquardt on September 5, 1980, at St. John Lutheran Church Flatrock in Monroeville, and she survives.

He graduated from Heritage High School in 1976 before attending Ivy Tech for emergency medical tech. Dale was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Monroeville, serving on the church council from 2006 to 2010. In addition to serving his church, Dale was active in the community. He was president and a member of the Monroeville Community Park for 25 years, also a medic for the Monroeville EMS for 18 years and a member of the Monroeville Chamber of Commerce. Dale was also involved with the Christ Child Festival in Fort Wayne.

He was the co-owner of L & D Sound, where he worked since 1980. He was also a production manager at Graphic Packaging International in Fort Wayne for 29 years; he also worked in the packaging industry in Louisville and Hebron, Kentucky as well as Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Dale enjoyed live sound production, camping and IU basketball. Above all his greatest joy was his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Laurie Gerber of Yoder, Indiana; two sons, Brandon (Misty) Gerber of Van Wert, Ohio, Lance Gerber of Yoder, Indiana; daughter, Nicole (Kevin) Pax of Russiaville, Indiana; brother, Gale (Sarah) Gerber of Nappanee, Indiana; brother, Terry (Kelly) Gerber of Huntertown, Indiana; sister, Julie (Allen) Gurganus of Beulaville, North Carolina; brother, Bryan Gerber of Wolcottville, Indiana; sister-in-law, Pam Gerber of Monroeville, Indiana; 12 grandchildren, Kayden Pax, Kenzianna Missler, Rylee Brehm, Gunner Gerber, Karalee Pax, Elijah Pax, Liam Gerber, Charleigh Gerber, Beckham Pax, Kaytlynn Pax, Alexis Pax and Finnley Gerber.

Dale was preceded in death by a brother, Rex A. Gerber.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville with Pastor Richard Hartman officiating. Burial will follow at Monroeville Memorial Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville.

In lieu of floral arrangements, due to allergies, the family requests that preferred memorials go to the family for medical expenses (Checks payable to Laurie Gerber)
