D. Ann (Werling) Jones

Ann (Werling) Jones, 92, passed peacefully from this life to join the company in Heaven on Friday, September 20, 2024. Ann was born on March 9, 1932 in Adams County, Ind. to the late Doras D. Werling and Mary (Halberstadt-Werling-Melching), both of Adams County, Ind. On October 28, 1950, she married Harvey L. Jones, and he preceded her in death on March 30, 2015.

Ann had worked for International Harvester and then as a nurse for Dr. M. J. Osborn in Willshire, Ohio for over 30 years until Dr. Osborn’s retirement. She then worked at Adams County Golden Meadows Home for over 10 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and served her church faithfully, including in the role of organist, for many years.

Ann is survived by a daughter, Kim (Ron) Dietrich of Willshire, Ohio, and a son, James (Jody) Jones of Decatur, Ind. Grandchildren include Melissa Dietrich, Chad Dietrich, Ryan Dietrich, and Sara Jones. Other family members and loved ones include former daughter-in-law, Lori (Toots) Kolter, along with granddaughter Krissy Adam. Additionally, there are several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who survive.

One brother and sister-in-law, Don A. and Marlene (Dellinger) Melching of Decatur survive. Also surviving are a sister-in-law Doris (Jones) Ray and a brother- and sister-in-law, Jack D. and Mary Ann (Jones) Bebout, all of Decatur.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ann was preceded in death by her stepfather, Edward T. Melching; a brother, Melvin D. (Peck) Werling; a sister-in-law, Bonnie (Bebout-Werling-Hoffman); and one grandchild, Taylor Pickford; as well as several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

A visitation will take place on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church in Pleasant Mills, Ind. A service will be led by Pastor John McCullough at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Immediately following the service there will be a graveside committal at Decatur Cemetery.
