On March 11, 2023, Cora “Grace” Josephine Elder, 16, of Yoder, Indiana walked… no, she RAN into the arms of Jesus. Grace passed away at her residence due to an unknown complication related to Spina Bifida.
She was born on December 7, 2006, in Cleveland, Ohio. Grace was adopted and placed into the arms of a loving family, who she was thankful to call her parents, Dan L. and Maria A. (Schuhler) Elder.
Grace was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Ossian, Indiana. She helped in the Nursery, Children’s Ministry and a part of the Teen Youth Group. Grace volunteered at the local nursing home.
She loved playing board games with her family, playing Fortnite, watching Youtube videos and watching Purdue and Indiana Basketball. Above all Grace dearly loved her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her loving family, parents , Dan & Maria Elder of Yoder, Indiana; brother, Zach (Amber) Elder of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Emily (Scott) Roop of Ossian, Indiana; sister, Elise (Wyatt) Mayer of Bluffton, Indiana; brother, Luke Elder of Yoder, Indiana; ten nieces and nephews, Lilly, Lawson, Corbin, Delcie, Oliver, Colt, Colin, Cyrus, Cooper, and Audie; paternal grandparents, Lynn & Bonnie Elder of Fort Wayne, Indiana; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Grace is also survived by her biological family; Allison Rosswurm; sister, Aubrea (Fiancé Bradley Kraft Jr.) Adams; nephew, Buckley and brother, Graham Adams.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Henry & Barb Schuhler.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Church of the Nazarene in Ossian, Indiana with Pastor Travis Tackett officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian, Indiana.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Church of the Nazarene (302 N Metts St, Ossian, IN 46777) and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. The family wants everyone to know they are welcome to wear Purdue or IU attire in memory of Grace.
Preferred memorials are to the Church of the Nazarene (Children’s Ministries) in Ossian. (please make checks payable to Ossian Church of the Nazarene)
