In Loving Memory of Charlotte Kathryn Vaughan

Charlotte Kathryn Vaughan, 80, of Hoagland, Indiana passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Saturday evening, February 8, 2025. Born on March 23, 1944 in Fort Wayne, she was the cherished daughter of Hugo and Elaine Fuelling. A proud graduate of Decatur High School, Charlotte built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.

On June 11, 1972, she married the love of her life, Steve P. Vaughan, at Antioch Lutheran Church in Hoagland, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and devotion. She worked as a machine operator and die technician at Fort Wayne Wire Die for an incredible 49 years, retiring on May 31, 2012. Her strong work ethic and dedication were evident in all aspects of her life.

More than anything, Charlotte was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, neighbor, and friend. She was a woman of deep faith, finding strength and comfort in her beliefs and sharing that light with those around her. Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for her family will forever be remembered.

Charlotte was a member of Antioch Lutheran Church, where she participated in Friendship Club, WELCA, and the Good Vibrations Bell Choir. She was also a member of AAL Thrivent and the Fort Wayne Wire Die Quarter Club.

Charlotte is survived by her three children: Chad (Lori) Vaughan of New Haven, Indiana; Stacey (Chris) Fields of Hoagland, Indiana; and Stephanie (Jason) Brickley of Ossian, Indiana; and two sisters, Diana S. (David) Burgan of Ossian, Indiana, and Donna L. (David) Ehinger of New Haven, Indiana. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren: Allison Vaughan, Payton Fields, Aidan Vaughan, Preston Fields, Peri Fields, Tyler Vaughan, Jordyn Brickley, and Owen Brickley; and two step-grandchildren, Kaylie and Kelsey Fields, who were all the joy of her life.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve, on November 11, 2019, her parents, Hugo and Elaine, and her son-in-law, Jason Smitley. Though she is no longer with us, the legacy of love, strength, and faith she leaves behind will never be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Antioch Lutheran Church in Hoagland, Indiana, with visitation from 9:30 a.m.-10:15 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at the Monroeville cemetery in Monroeville Indiana.

Family and friends will be received from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacob’s Chapel in Monroeville.

Mom, may you now find peace in the arms of Dad and your parents. Until we meet again, we will carry your love with us always.
