Charles "Ted" Emenhiser

Charles “Ted” Emenhiser , 89, of Hoagland, Indiana passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Lincolnshire Place in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on June 1, 1933 in Hoagland, Indiana, to the late Coyle Emenhiser and the late Marie (Roy) Emenhiser. Ted was united in marriage to Patricia Wolf on February 3, 1956 in Angola, Indiana and she preceded him in death on October 10, 2015.

He proudly served in the United States Army, and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

He was employed at Phelps Dodge in Fort Wayne and retired after 29 years of service. After his retirement Ted was an owner/operator of JEC Electric for several years. He was a lifelong farmer on the family farm, and farming was his true passion. He also found the time to build three homes in his lifetime with his lifetime friends.

Ted loved Coldwater and Sylvan Lake. He enjoyed entertaining others through various activities at the lake. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, watching and playing basketball. He was very generous with his time and talents with others around him.

Survivors include two sons, Kevin Emenhiser of Hoagland, Indiana and Terry (Angela) Emenhiser of Ft. Mill, South Carolina; two daughters, Roxanne (Rick) Porter of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Debbie (Bob) Richman of Mishawaka, Indiana; sister-in-law, Doris Emenhiser of Garrett, Indiana; 10 grandchildren: Nikki (Brandon) Kerby; Clayton (Amanda) Davis; Samantha (Todd Busick) Porter; Leah (Zach) Gerbeth; Jenna (Ryan Hanson) Richman; Brian Richman; Andrew Richman; Mariah (Ray) Price; Alec (Bree) Emenhiser; Keila Emenhiser; and six great-grandchildren, Isabel Davis; Milena Davis; Stella Davis; Reid Davis; Gianna Kerby; and Theodore Emenhiser.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, LeRoy and Howard Emenhiser; two sisters, Cora Jane Conrad and Dorothy Maurer; and a great-grandson, Dustin Gerbeth.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Alec Emenhiser officiating. Entombment will follow in the Concordia Cemetery in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #43.

Family and friends will be received from 3 -7 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Preferred memorials can be given to Riley Hospital for Children, in honor of Dustin Gerbeth.
