Carolyn Rose Butler, 75, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on October 7, 1947 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Arthur and Evelyn Rose (Reuille) Meyer.
Carolyn was a faithful member of St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church, she recited the Holy Rosary every day and attended Mass daily. She always volunteered at the church and school.
Carolyn was employed at GE in Fort Wayne, Indiana where she met Robert, they were married on September 26, 1970, at St. Rose de Lima in Monroeville, Indiana. They were married for 51 years before Robert passed on April 18, 2022. After she had their first son, she decided to be a homemaker and raise her family.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Carolyn loved gardening, cooking, spending time with her family and friends, and going on short trips. She enjoyed nature, especially the beauty of the sunrises and sunsets. Carolyn found the “Good” in everyone and truly cared about each person she met.
Carolyn is survived by son, Theron J. (Marcinda) Butler of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Carmen (Dan) MacPherson of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Anthony J. “Tony” Butler of Monroeville, Indiana; sister, Marilyn Meyer of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Madeleine Plumley of Decatur, Indiana; four grandchildren, Morgahn (Zach) Spencer, Jack MacPherson, Nolan MacPherson, Alanna MacPherson and great-grandson, Waylen Spencer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Butler; and brother, James Meyer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:00 noon Saturday, September 2, 2023, St. Rose Catholic Church, Monroeville with Father Dennis Di Benedetto and Father David Violi Concelebrating. Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery in Monroeville, Indiana.
Family and friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials can be given to St. Rose de Lima Catholic School.
Arrangements are by the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel of Monroeville, Indiana.
