Carl A. Sheehan

May 9, 1940 — August 17, 2023

Carl A. Sheehan, 83, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away Thursday afternoon, August 17, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana following a medical procedure.

He was born on May 9, 1940 in Monroeville, Indiana to Irvin and Alberta (Geis) Sheehan. Carl was united in marriage to Katherine Logan on June 30, 1962 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Fort Wayne.

Carl was a parishioner of St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville, Indiana.   He was a graduate of the Hoagland High School Class of 1959.

He was a retired lifelong farmer in Allen County.   In his retirement years, he worked at what is now known as Ag Plus Elevator in Monroeville.

Carl was a strong provider to his family…in work ethic and in care for the entire family.  He would make time for his children and grandchildren in whatever way he could.  He was very involved in serving at his church and school.  He further showed his faith in being the body of Christ in helping anyone whom he came across who needed assistance.  Carl took inspiration from Kathy’s quilting expertise to outdo her by making barn quilt designs.  Carl developed a hobby of woodworking where he would donate his creations for fundraisers in the community.

He is survived by his wife,  Kathy Sheehan of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Laura (Ronald) Beckley of Monroeville, Indiana; four sons, Corey (Kimberly) Sheehan of Monroeville, Indiana, Matthew (Tonya) Sheehan of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Brian (Kay Faurote) Sheehan of Lincoln Park, Michigan, Jonathan (Aimee Lehman) Sheehan of Auburn, Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Susan Sheehan of Coldwater, Michigan and Nancy Sheehan of New Haven, Indiana; 12 grandchildren, Brandon Beckley, Heather (Danny) Contreras, Nicholas (Lauren) Sheehan, Conner (Erica) Sheehan, Abby Sheehan, Clayton Sheehan, Kyle Murdock, Mollie Sheehan, Gavin Sheehan, Austin Lehman, Breanna Lehman, and Alaina Lehman; and four great-grandchildren, Gabriel Beckley, Aksel Contreras, Nolan Contreras, and Milo Contreras.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Angela Johnson and Nancy Lou Lothamer and two brothers, Eugene Sheehan and Neal Sheehan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 28, 2023, at St. Rose Catholic Church, Monroeville with Fr. Dennis DiBenedetto officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Rose Catholic Cemetery.
