On Thursday, November 29, 2018, Billy “Bill” Irvin, loving husband and father of two, passed away from complications due to multiple sclerosis at Hickory Creek at Hicksville in Hicksville, OH at the age of 72.
Bill was born on February 6, 1946 in Harrisburg, Illinois to the late Bernie and Juanita (Garner) Irvin. He graduated from New Haven High School in 1964. On April 30, 1966 he married his childhood sweetheart Norma Jean Coonrod . They raised two children and shared a love story that lasted over 50 years. Bill proudly served in the United Sta tes Coast Guard. After that h e joined the K-9 unit of the Allen Count y Sheriff’s Department and later he enjoyed bei ng a driver for Rea Magnet Wire before retiring.
Bill adored his family above all. He loved animals (critters, as he called them ), being outdoors, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, golfing, or just tinkering in the garage. A bit of a prankster, he can best be described a s ornery by anyone who knew him.
Surviving are his daughter, Sheri (Steven) Bowersox of Woodburn, IN; his son, Gregory (Gretchen) Irvin of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren Kiera and Brandt Irvin of Fort Wayne, IN; step-grandchild Erin Bowersox of Van Wert, OH; sister Kay Bearman of Churubusco, IN; many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Norma Jean (Jeanne) Irvin who passed away on December 4, 2016.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at St Louis Catholic Church – Besancon, 15535 Lincoln Hwy East, New Haven, IN. Visitation at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home , Jacobs Chapel , 111 South Water Street, Monroeville, IN from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Burial is at St Louis Besancon Catholic Cemetery.
Preferred memorials to Masses or St. Louis Academy.
