Betty Lou Hawkins

Betty Lou Hawkins, 80, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away Friday, May 20, 2022. Born on March 27, 1942 in Decatur, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late John D. and Pauline I. (Tumbleson) Simerman.

Betty was a receptionist at RTM Landscaping for nine years, retiring in April of 2006. She was also employed at Clark Oil Company from 1990-1994 and Bag Service Inc. from 1962-1968. Betty enjoyed being with her family. She also enjoyed crocheting and making floral arrangements.

Surviving are her daughter, Paula Johnson of Decatur, IN; son, Brian Hullinger of Decatur, IN; daughter, Cynthia Hack of Decatur, IN; daughter, Dawn (Neil) Scott of Decatur, IN; daughter, Ellen (Barry) Barnes of Decatur, IN; son, Faron (Jane) Hullinger of Berne, IN; son, John Hullinger of Decatur, IN; daughter, Janetta Rydell of Berne, IN; son, Kirby Hawkins of Decatur, IN; son, Dustin (Whitney) Hawkins of Decatur, IN; brother, Richard Simerman of Decatur, IN; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and three great-great grandchildren with three on the way. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Julia “Judy” Mazelin, and a grandson, Jackson Lynn Hullinger.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 27, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, with Pastor Ernie Suman officiating. Friends and family will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. Memorial donations may be made to AGAPE Respite Care.
