Bernice Augsburger

Bernice A. Augsburger, 83, of Berne, Indiana passed away Saturday morning, February 15, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was born on June 11, 1941, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Samuel H. and Frieda P. (Myers) Yager. Bernice was united in marriage to John H. Augsburger on September 9, 1967, at Cross UCC in Berne, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on February 3, 2021.

Bernice attended West Missionary Church in Berne, Indiana and was a previous member of Cross Community Church in Berne, Indiana.

She worked for CTS in Berne for a short time before driving school bus for South Adams Community Schools for 22 years.

Bernice was an avid book reader and enjoyed going out to eat. Family meant the world to Bernice and she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Larrabee of Monroe, Indiana; son, John Patrick (Heather) Augsburger of Berne, Indiana; son, John Michael Augsburger of Berne, Indiana; sister, Miriam O. (Max) Reinhard of Berne, Indiana; four grandchildren, Sierra (Jere) Frank, Caleb (Hannah) Augsburger, Somer (Isaiah Schwartz) Augsburger, and Becky Larrabee; and two great-grandchildren, Aubree Marie Frank, Warren John Frank, and one on the way in April.

Bernice was preceded in death by her brother, Glen Yager.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the West Missionary Church in Berne, Indiana with Pastor Keith Rupp officiating. Burial will follow at M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne, Indiana.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Preferred memorials can be given to West Missionary Church or Indiana University Parkinson Research.
