Bernard John "Bernie" Hart

Bernard “Bernie” John Hart, 73, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away Saturday morning, May 25, 2024, at his home following a battle with cancer.

He was born on September 18, 1950, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Delbert J. and Arvis R. (Lehman) Hart. Bernie was united in marriage to Edra “Faye” Wilmoth on August 26, 1972, and she survives.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock.

Bernie was a lifelong farmer.  He dedicated his life to working on the family farm.  He received great satisfaction in the way that he cared for the farm and harvested its bounty.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Hart of Monroeville, Indiana; three sons, Daniel John (Elaine) Hart of Westfield, Indiana, David Lee Hart of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Dennis Adam Hart of Monroeville, Indiana; sister, Rebecca Coomer of New Haven, Indiana, sister, Betty Klenke of Monroeville, Indiana; brother, Bryan (Nannette) Hart of Columbia City, Indiana; and two grandchildren, Hailey & Samuel Hart.

In addition to his parents Bernie was preceded in death by a brother, Burton Hart; and brother-in-law, Larry Coomer.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024 at St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock with Pastor Douglas Christian officiating. Burial will follow in Monroeville Memorial Cemetery, Monroeville.

Family and friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2024, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request that memorial donations be made to St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock or Heritage FFA and can be mailed to Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, 520 N. 2nd Street, Decatur, IN 46733.
