Benjamin A. Baumert, 45, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away Monday, September 7, 2020, at his residence. His death was unexpected, but followed a lengthy period of health issues.
He was born on April 6, 1975, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Greg K. Baumert and Kathleen (Roe) Baumert. Ben was united in marriage to Molly Young on August 5, 2000, on Mackinaw Island, Michigan and she survives.
Ben was employed by the Panhandle Eastern Pipeline in Edgerton, Indiana where he was a technician.
He was passionate about IU Basketball, NASCAR, anything hockey, hunting, and relaxing at their lake cottage.
Ben is survived his wife, Molly Baumert of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Michael Baumert of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Andrew Baumert at home; step-son, Jacob Boyer of Fort Wayne, Indiana; father, Greg Baumert of Angola, Indiana; mother, Kathleen Baumert of Monroeville, Indiana; brother, Matt (Beth) Baumert of Monroeville, Indiana; and paternal grandmother, June Baumert of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Karen Baumert; paternal grandfather, William Baumert; maternal grandmother, Janine Roe.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2020, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Street, Ft. Wayne, IN with Pastor Steve Ahlersmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Lehman Cemetery of Payne, Ohio. Masks are required. The funeral service will be live streamed through St. Peter Lutheran Church's YouTube page and can be accessed by the link provided http://www.youtube.com/StPetersFW/ .
Family will receive friends from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2020, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Preferred memorials can be given to Colin Lister Fund (non-profit organization to grant scholarships to disadvantaged youth hockey in Ft. Wayne).
