Barbara Ann Scheumann

Barbara Ann Scheumann, 82, of Hoagland, Indiana passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 30, 2022, at her residence.

She was born on August 21, 1939 in Plymouth, Indiana to Lloyd and G. Mildred (Fetherolf) Beatty.  She married Roger Allen Scheumann on November 18, 1967 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne.

Barb was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen, where she was in the church choir for 25 years.  Additionally, she was a former member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Peace Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne.  Barb was a member of Parkview Alumni Association in Fort Wayne and the Hoagland Area Advancement Association.

Barb was a 1957 graduate of Lincoln High School and received her degree from Parkview School of Nursing in 1960.  She retired as a registered nurse in 2011 from Surgery ONE in Fort Wayne with 19 years of service.  Prior to her career at ONE, she had also worked for Dr. Gladstone in Fort Wayne for three years and then to Parkview from 1963 to 1969.

Barb loved spending time with her family. One of her most valued accomplishments was the privilege of being a homemaker and raising her sons. She enjoyed baking and making baby blankets.  She also often accompanied Roger on his fishing and traveling expeditions.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Scheumann of Hoagland, Indiana; two sons, Dale (Jackie) Scheumann of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Todd (Kristin) Scheumann of Hoagland, Indiana; and six grandchildren, Brady Scheumann, Rachel Scheumann, Clara Scheumann, Jackson Scheumann, Emilee Scheumann and Grace Scheumann.

She was preceded in death by two half-brothers, Lloyd “Mike” Beatty and Jim Beatty.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Pastor Peter Brock officiating and Pastor Christopher Maronde and Vicar Isaiah Armbrecht assisting.  Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Bingen.

Friends and family will be received from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen or Parkview School of Nursing Alumni Scholarship Fund.
