Arthur A. Ormsby , 74, of Monroeville, Indiana passed away Friday, December 3, 2021 at his residence.
He was born on August 8, 1947, in Kokomo, Indiana to the late George Ormsby and Rosemary (Condo) Ormsby.
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Art was a very skilled model maker at General Motors and retired after 53.4 years.
He was very passionate of his HO model trains. Art was dedicated to his traditional Catholic faith. He was proud of his Irish ancestry. He was fondly known as Cookie Grandpa, always having iced sugar cookies for his grandkids to enjoy. He may have been frugal, but was generous to everyone around him. No one can deny the love Art had for his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Bryony (Nathaniel) Francis of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter,
Cathlin Ormsby of Roann, Indiana; son, Brendan Ormsby of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Gregory (Tünde György) Lent of Northhampton, Massachusetts; three grandsons, Johnathan, Colin, Theodore; one favorite granddaughter, Isabelle “Is”; and a sister, Linda (Jim) Eads of Galveston, Indiana.
Arthur was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Ormsby.
A funeral service will take place Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 4643 Gaywood Dr. Fort Wayne, Indiana with Father Dominic Savoie officiating. Burial will take place in Marion National Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, December 13, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana.
Preferred memorials can be given to The Veteran’s National Memorial Shrine and Museum.
