Arnold Scheumann

Arnold “Arnie” Scheumann, 87, of Hoagland, Indiana passed away Friday, February 3, 2023, at Heritage Park in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on March 10, 1935, in Allen County to the late Paul and Ida (Luttman) Scheumann.

Arnie was united in marriage to Pamela Koehler on March 12, 2000, at St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen and she preceded him in death on May 23, 2018.

He graduated from Hoagland High School class of 1954. Arnie was a member since birth of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen.

He was a lifelong Allen County farmer. Arnie was also employed at Dana Corp for 15 years before retiring in 2001.

He loved animals, classic cars, Oliver Tractors and these provided him with great enjoyment. Arnie also enjoyed listening to music, and over the years, he spent many nights square dancing and polka dancing…especially at the Hoagland Hayloft.

He is survived by his three daughters, Janilyn (Leon) O’Shaughnessey of Monroeville, Indiana, Jill Renae (Doug) Bieberich of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Jacquelyn (Jeff) Knefelkamp of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Darin (Gwen) Scheumann of Ossian, Indiana; sister, Garnita Rebber of New Haven, Indiana; sister-in-law, Delores Scheumann of Ossian, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Arnie was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond (Helen) Scheumann and Henry Scheumann; three sisters, Geraldine (Albert) Meyer, Lona (Enno) Hormann and Margaret (Clifford) Kiefer.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church-Bingen with Pastor Peter Brock officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Bingen.

Family and friends will be received from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church-Bingen or Worship Anew.
