Arlene E. (Fuelling) Niemeyer, 92, of Hoagland, Indiana passed away Saturday evening, June 17, 2023, at Cedarhurst Assisted Living in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born on March 16, 1931, in Decatur, Indiana to Rudolph and Ida (Bohnke) Fuelling. On August 1, 1953, Arlene married Kenneth W. Niemeyer at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2000.
Arlene was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest where she was active in the DOVES and Altar Guild. She was also active in the Hoagland Area Advancement Association and the Federation for Lutherans Nursing Home Volunteers.
She was a homemaker and had also worked at First State Bank in Decatur in her younger years. Together with her husband, they founded and operated Quixote Hills Reception Hall in the Hoagland area.
She is survived by daughter, Kayleen (Randy) Hormann of Hoagland, Indiana; daughter, Carol Stucky of Hoagland, Indiana; son, Jon (Deb) Niemeyer of Hoagland, Indiana; daughter, Cathy (Dave Griebel) Niemeyer of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Don (Myra) Niemeyer of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Joan Thompson of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Cindy (Dean) Wass of Monroeville, Indiana; sister-in-law, Charlotte Fuelling of Decatur, Indiana; 12 grandchildren, Leah (Joe) Dunlay, Camryn (Joel) Kuehnert, Abby (Michael) Hansen, Matthew (Amanda) Stucky, Nate (Kalynne) Stucky, Jacob Niemeyer, Joseph (Kristin) Niemeyer, Jacquelyn Niemeyer, Jenna Niemeyer, Emmett Niemeyer, Evan Niemeyer, Eli Niemeyer; two step-grandchildren, Audrey (Michael) Crabb and Katherine Griebel; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way; and a step great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Meghan Hormann; son-in-law, Lynn Stucky; sister, Alice Bruick; and brother, Delmore Fuelling.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest located at 9909 Wayne Trace in Fort Wayne, Indiana with Pastor Josef Henning and Rev. David Griebel officiating. Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery Gardens.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest; Hoagland EMS; or Worship Anew.
Arrangements are by Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana.
