Arleen K Byrd

Arleen K. Byrd, 73, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Stillwater Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.

She was born on September 28, 1950 in Adams County, Indiana to the late Marcus Schueler and the late Ilo Jean (Grote) Schueler.

Arleen was united in marriage to Richard T. Byrd on June 29, 1996 in Bloomington, Indiana, and he passed away on September 15, 2018.

Arleen was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Decatur (Preble) Indiana.  She was previously employed at Target as a sales associate. Arleen loved going to craft shows.  She really enjoyed making her own crafts and sharing them with family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Marcus Byrd of Fort Wayne, Indiana; step-son, Joel Byrd of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother, David Schueler of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Ellen (James) Bruns of Celina, Ohio; sister, Susan (Carl) Seddelmeyer of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Barbara (Mitch Braswell) Gaffer of Peachtree, Georgia; brother, Norman Schueler of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Jim (Karen) Schueler of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Corene (Nolan) Scheumann of Decatur, Indiana; brother, John (Claudia) Schueler of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Karen (Thomas) Dennison of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister-in-law, Nancy Schueler of Westfield, Indiana; six grandchildren, Briana Byrd, Adalyn Byrd, Aurora Byrd, Noah Byrd, Evan Byrd, and Mykell Byrd; one great-grandchild, Stevie Rose Snyder; and one great-grandchild due in March.

Arleen was preceded in death by a step son, Eric Byrd, and a brother, Ron Schueler.

In following with Arleen’s wishes, private family services will be held at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, with Pastor Andrew Yeager officiating.

Preferred memorials can be given to Stillwater Hospice or St. Paul Lutheran Church in Decatur (Preble).
