Ardella Virginia Heare

Ardella Virginia Heare, 96, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Cypress Village in Jacksonville, Florida.

She was born on July 11, 1925, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Clarence Miller and the late Mary (Schnepp) Miller. Ardella was united in marriage to Rex A. Heare on October 31, 1948, in Decatur, Indiana and he preceded her in death on October 15, 2003.

She graduated in 1943 from Decatur High School. Ardella was the Assistant Vice President & Trust Officer for Summit Banking for 28 years, retiring in July of 1986. Prior to her employment at the bank, she worked at General Electric as a Secretary for seven years. Ardella and her late husband retired to Tampa, Florida to be closer to her daughter and grandson. Part of retirement included owner and operator of a local laundromat supporting the international airport, medical offices, and college students. On Ardella’s second retirement, both she and Rex moved to Mount Dora, Florida to be closer to the Heare family. Together, they became members of First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Dora, Florida. She spent many years as a Deacon and volunteer for the church. Ardella spent her later years providing love and support to her daughter Susie and being a loving grandmother to her grandson Christopher.

Survivors include her daughter, “Susie” Karen Sue Heare-Phillips of Mount Dora, Florida; grandson, Christopher Phillips of Jacksonville, Florida; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Allen Heare in infancy; sister, Rosali Helm; and two brothers, Harlo “Ike” Miller and Orland Miller.

Friends and family will be received from 10:30 a.m. up until the 11:30 a.m. service time on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur – 520 N. 2nd. St. Decatur, Indiana.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur with Life Celebrant Dave McIntire officiating.

Preferred memorials can be given to Shriners Children’s Hospital and can be mailed to the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur.
