Anne E. Girod

Anne E. Girod, 72, of Monroe, Indiana passed away Thursday evening, January 9, 2025, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Indiana.

She was born on August 8, 1952, in Monroe, Indiana to the late Christian R. and Elma E. (Hilty) Schwartz. Anne married Mark J. Girod on September 27, 1974.

Anne was a member of the Old Order Amish.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Mark J. Girod of Monroe, Indiana; one son and seven daughters, Daniel (Sara) Girod of Decatur, Indiana, Emma (Menno) Christner of Decatur, Indiana, Edna (Levi) Christner of Willshire, Ohio, Elma (William) Schwartz of Kentucky, Rosa (Joseph) Schwartz of Monroe, Indiana, Amy (Jerry) Schwartz of Monroe, Indiana, Miriam (James) Wickey of Monroe, Indiana, and Barbara (Reuben) Schwartz of Monroe, Indiana; two sisters, Emma (Emmanuel) Girod, and Elma E. Schwartz; three brothers, Daniel (Sovilla) Schwartz, John (Adel) Schwartz, and Sam (Edna) Schwartz; 44 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Anne was preceded in death by her sister, Rosie.

A funeral service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Mark J. Girod Residence, 1720 East 100 South Monroe, Indiana, with Bishop James Z. Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow at Winchester Cemetery in rural Monroe, Indiana.

Visitation will be held at the Mark J. Girod Residence from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025, and from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2025.
