Ann Lee Gerke

Ann Lee Gerke , 84, of Decatur, Indiana passed away on June 12, 2022, at Cedarhurst of Fort Wayne.

She was born on March 29, 1938, in Perrysville, Indiana to the late Clarence Hamand and the late Rheba (Fulk) Hamand.  She was united in marriage to Arnold W. Gerke on December 29, 1957 in Cayuga, Indiana.

Ann was a 1956 graduate of Cayuga High School.  She was a Member of St. Peter Lutheran Church (Fuelling), Decatur, Indiana where she held office positions in Ladies Aid and served in LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League).  When she began wintering in Zapata, Texas she became an active associate member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church where she was in charge of the altar at the church.

Ann greatly enjoyed gathering with her family and friends…and the memories that they shared and created.  In her spare time she spent time sewing and quilting for her church as well as family.  She also loved flowers.

She was a Homemaker and a farm wife.

Ann was survived by her husband, Arnold W. Gerke of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Treva D. Gerke of Decatur, Indiana; daughter,          Lisa (Joe) Pluckebaum of  Indianapolis, Indiana; son, Samuel (Mara) Gerke      of Decatur, Indiana; son, Anthony “Andy” (Mindy) Gerke of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Malinda Baker of Burleson, Texas;  sister, Phyllis Berkenkotter    of Howard, Colorado; nine grandchildren; Andrea, Ben and Clayton Pluckebaum; Trevor and Violet Baker; Brian, Ethan and Logan Gerke and Aaron Gerke Powell.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard, Lamoyne, Ralph and Maynard Hamand.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2022 at the St. Peter Lutheran (Fuelling), Decatur, Indiana, with Pastor Leonard Tanksley officiating.  Interment will follow in the St. Peter Lutheran Church (Fuelling) Cemetery, Decatur, Indiana.

Friends and family will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. & 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Preferred memorials can be made to LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League).
