Angelita (Espinoza) Canales

 Angelita (Espinoza) Canales, 97, of Decatur, Indiana passed away early Friday, January 24, 2025, at Swiss Village in Berne, Indiana. 

She was born on March 11, 1927 in New Mexico to Victor and Hortenca (Rivera) Espinoza. Angelita was united in marriage to Rafael R. Canales on September 25, 1943, and he preceded her in death on October 6, 2002.

She was a member of Assembly of God Church in Decatur and faithfully served her family as a homemaker. 

Angelita loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed singing with the sisters, sewing, and playing the piano. She loved her dog, Elvis. 

She is survived by four daughters, Amelia (Darrell) Deaton of Decatur, Indiana, Sally (Mike) Garza of Decatur, Indiana, Debbie (Steve) Boles of Noblesville, Indiana, and Lyn (Mark) Brown of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Ruth SanMiguel of Arizona; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Angelita was preceded in death by her son, Ralph Canales, Jr; daughter, Ruth Alice Linnemeier; six sisters, Ruth Canales in infancy, Hortensa Murello, Pauline Canales, Virginia Gonzales, Elida Avina, and Herminia Ortez; and brother, Fred Espinoza. 

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Rev. Steve Boles and Pastor Billie Velarde officiating. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the family (payable to Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home).
