Allan A. Dabney, 83, of Monroeville, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Adams Heritage in Monroeville, Indiana.
He was born on September 27, 1940, in Kelso, Washington to the late Arden Dabney and Helen (Lucier) Dabney. Allan was united in marriage to Beverly J. Grotrian on February 20, 1965, at St. Rose Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on January 13, 2018.
Allan served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1963.
He graduated from Gladstone High School Class of 1959. Allan was a parishioner at St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville, and a member of the American Legion Post #420 in Monroeville.
He was employed by Schwann’s and Standard Coffee Co. in sales for many years and retired in January 2003. He was previously employed at International Harvester from the 1970’s until the early 1980’s.
He enjoyed playing cards (cribbage), watching the NFL with his favorite team being the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, IU basketball, and bowling. He also loved traveling with his grandkids.
Survivors include his daughter, Dineale D. (Jeff) Cross of Westfield, Indiana; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Audrey; one grandson, Cody Horvach; and two great-grandchildren, Adessa and Arion.
In addition to his parents, and wife he was preceded in death by his son, Justin S. Dabney on February 17, 2006; and sister, Luella Whipple.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville with Father Dennis DiBenedetto officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in New Haven, Indiana.
Family and friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana, and one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday at St. Rose Catholic Church.
The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home-Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #420 of Monroeville following the Mass.
Preferred Memorials can be made to St Rose Catholic Church Parish Restoration Fund.
