Alfred F. Scheumann, 94, of Hoagland, Indiana passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Bethlehem Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He was born on September 13, 1926, in Hoagland, Indiana to the late Julius Scheumann and the late Rosa (Luttman) Scheumann.
On September 23, 1950, Alfred was united in marriage to Leonora A. Rebber in New Haven, Indiana and she preceded him in death on June 13, 1993. He was then married to Mary F. (Magoon) Mills on February 3, 1996 in Florida and she passed away June 11, 2020.
Alfred served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He attended St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock in Monroeville and also Antioch Lutheran Church in Hoagland.
He was a lifelong Allen County farmer and also drove school bus for East Allen Community Schools for 24 years.
Alfred enjoyed his family and playing sports and cards with his friends and family. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed, corn hole and riding motorcycles.
Survivors include three sons, Keith (Debbie) Scheumann of Woodburn, Indiana, Alan (Tammy) Scheumann of Decatur, Indiana and Lowell Scheumann of Hoagland, Indiana; three daughters, Kathy (Bob) Boling of Ossian, Indiana, Peggy (Chris) Kofer of Strafford, New Hampshire, and Kelly (Len) Winebrenner of Hamilton, Indiana; step-son, Greg (Jackie) Mills of Cheshire, Connecticut; step-daughter, Pam (Steve) Corley of Tennessee; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Alfred was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Rorick; daughter-in-law, Doris Scheumann; three grandchildren; three brothers, Edward, Richard, and Robert Scheumann; and a sister, Alvera Knipstein.
A funeral service will be held at 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Dave Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Concordia Cemetery Gardens in Fort Wayne, Indiana with Military Graveside honors to be conducted by the American Legion Post #43. For those that are unable to attend the service, it will be live streamed on our Zwick & Jahn Facebook page.
Family and friends will be received from 2-5 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home – Decatur and one hour prior to services Wednesday also at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials can be given to Antioch Lutheran Church or Heartland Hospice.
