Alberta M. "Bobbi" Madry

Alberta Marie Ray "Bobbi" Madry—98, of Monroeville, formerly of Spring Valley, NY, passed away at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2022 at her Monroeville Road residence. Born June 16, 1924, in Illinois, she was raised by her aunt after her mother died when she was three.
Bobbi moved to Fort Wayne at age 19, and began performing with the Durbin Theatrical Agency. She then opened the Bobbi Ray School of Charm & Modeling. After selling her business, she moved on to work for Milady Publishing Company, in the New York area, was an associate publisher for The Rockland Review and also worked for Golden Quill Press. As a published author and editor, Bobbi works included numerous books of cosmetology, etiquette and poetry.
She fell in love and married Daniel Angelo Madry, Sr., a widower with five children in 1976; they spent 28 years together before he passed away on April 22, 2004. The next year, she moved back to Indiana and made her home in Monroeville.
Locally, she was a founding member of Heartland Writers Forum, along with Jason McBride and an active member of Four Presidents Corners Historical Society. Bobbi enjoyed volunteering at the Monroeville Museum of History, writing stories for the Monroeville News and collecting books, especially those featuring fine cooking. She also helped at Cozme International, watching the shop for her good friends, Linda and Jack Stephenson. Bobbi enjoyed living the life in Manhattan, but loved coming back to her roots in Allen County.
Survivors include her step-children, Todd (Donna) Madry; daugher-in-law, Carolyn Madry; and a host of local friends who considered her family.
In addition to her husband, Bobbi was preceded in death by a step-daughters, Judith Lee Cote. Gayle Ann Drumm, and Donna Marie LaFazis; step-son, Daniel "Danny" Madry Jr. on August 24, 2021; and step-grandson, Brian Christopher Madry on July 18, 2011.
As per her wishes, there was no public service and cremation was chosen. Memorials to Four Presidents Corners Historical Society. Arrangements by Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home-Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville.
