Adele Blomenberg, 92, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Friday, May 20, 2022, at her residence.
She was born on February 6, 1930, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Albert Heckman and the late Clara (Kiefer) Heckman.
Adele was united in marriage to Elfurt F. Blomenberg on May 29, 1949, in Adams County. He preceded her in death on November 6, 2014.
Adele was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim in Decatur, where she was in the choir for over 25 years. She was also a member of the LWML, Bereavement Committee, Tabea Society, Altar Guild and Senior Walther Leaguers.
She graduated from Concordia High School in 1948. She was a homemaker and worked as her husband’s partner on the family farm.
She enjoyed canning, gardening, bowling, playing cards, quilting, jigsaw puzzles, word searches, singing in the choir, board games and time with her family. She reliably called members of the Friedheim congregation to wish them either a happy birthday or a happy anniversary. She frequently sang at weddings and in her daily life. She was a kind person who relished giving of her talents to others.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicki (Steven) Wentzel of Napoleon, Ohio; son, Thomas (Michelle) Blomenberg of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Peggy (David Lundberg) Blomenberg of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; son, Rev. Ralph (Jan) Blomenberg of Seymour, Indiana; daughter, Susan Blomenberg-Neiman of The Villages, Florida; son, Timothy (Kristine) Blomenberg of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Delmar Heckman of Decatur, Indiana; 16 grandchildren, Renee Gregory, Brian Wentzel, Amy Aldeman, Emily Sovine, Jill Dougal, Sara Overbeck, Katie Hargett, Elizabeth Eldredge Lester, Jack Eldredge, Justin Blomenberg, Jennifer Rodgers, Janneane Blevins, Brian Moeller, Ben Moeller, Rebekah Tussing, and Andrew Blomenberg; and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Elinor Moerman; brother, Gerhard Heckman; son-in-law, Conrad Victor Neiman; grandson-in-law, John Gatalski
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim with Pastor Dan Dahling officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Friedheim.
Friends and family will be received from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
Preferred memorials can be given to Lutheran Hour, Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim or the donor’s choice.
