Clarence "Pete" Dick, 88 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 in the Adams Memorial Hospital located in Decatur. Clarence was born on Sunday, December 21, 1919 in Wells County, Indiana, the son of the late Carl Dick and the late Lucy (Aker) Dick. He married Pauline Mitchel on May 31, 1947 in Nashville, Indiana and she survives. Clarence was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church in Monroe, Indiana where he served as usher for over 45 years; served on the Board of Trustees and had been a past chairman. Clarence served his country in the United States Army during World War II serving in the EAME Theater. Clarence was self-employed having Monroe Washer Service for 50 years; Dick's Carpet Cleaning for 25 years; and was a custodian at Adams Central Schools for 13 years. Surviving are his wife, Pauline Dick of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Cheryl Johnston of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, son, Kevin (Jennifer) Dick of Decatur, Indiana, son, Bill Dick of LaQuinta, California, daughter, Carol Stimson of Buckeye, Arizona, sister, Patty Stanley of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Jane DeRoo of Decatur, Indiana, eight grandchildren: Twyla (Burt) Mallett, Yvonne (Roger) Frank, Lisa (Pete) Guerrero, Theresa Beck, Christopher (Melanie) Johnston, Nicole (David) Rosswurm, Brittany Dick, and Chelsea Dick; twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Preceding Clarence in death was one brother, Merle Dick; and one sister, Peggy McBride. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Powers officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Military Gravesided Services will be conducted at the cemetery by American Legion Post #43 Color Guard. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2008 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana or Monroe United Methodist Church.
