Lt. Colonel Leroy Brooks Tickle (Ret.)

Lt. Colonel Leroy Brooks Tickle (Ret.), 83 years old of Houston, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at his residence in Houston. Leroy was born on August 19, 1922 in Van Wert, Ohio the Son of the late Jesse Clyde Tickle and the late Josephine (Fryer) Tickle. He married the late Donna Virjean Kraft on March 13, 1943 in San Diego, California and she passed away on September 29, 1999. Leroy was a seven year veteran of the United States Marine Corps during World War II and then served 20 years with the United States Army, retiring as a Lt. Colonel and serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was one of a handful of veterans having served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Following his retirement from the United States Army, he was employed as a sales manager for a Ford dealer in Texas. Surviving are his daughter, Shelia Kay Stigall and fiancé, Robert Brewer of Austin, Texas, daughter, Mrs. John (Korby Leigh) Bole of Austin, Texas, brother, Regis Tickle of Ohio City, Ohio, sister, Eleanor Prichard of Pleasant Lake, Michigan, granddaughter, Brenna Bole, grandson, Colton Bole, granddaughter, Heather (James) Martinolich, grandson, Dustin Stigall, and great-grandson, Hunter Martinolich. Leroy was preceded in death by three sisters: Clara Davis, Jeanette Krugh, and Thelma Kline and a half-sister, Ormal Russell. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Rossman officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery; with Military Graveside Services conducted by Adams Post #43 Color Guard supported by the United States Army representative. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to the Adams County Community Foundation-Angel Fund.
