Dorothy E. (Dressler) Franke, 87, of Monroeville, IN passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Dorothy was born on June 17, 1922 in Fort Wayne, IN to Gustave and Amelia (Schwalm) Dressler. She married H. Edward Franke on May 22, 1943 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Dorothy was a homemaker and had worked for a short time at General Electric in Fort Wayne from 1941 to 1944. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock in Monroeville, Indiana where she was active in the Ladies Evening Guild and had started the Young Married Couples Club. She is survived by her husband, Ed of 66 years. She is also survived by her 8 children and their spouses, Steven (Martha) Franke of Peoria, AZ, Janet (Wayne) Zelt of Surprise, AZ, Norma (Don) Boenker of Decatur, IN, Daniel (Mary Jo) Franke of Fremont, IN, Alice (Jeffery) King of Fort Wayne, IN, Philip (Sharon) Franke of Monroeville, IN, Leslie Franke of Fort Wayne, IN and Douglas (Belinda) Franke of Zionsville, IN. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 4 step great-grandchildren. She is survived by brother, Earl Dressler, sister-in-law, Maryann Dressler and brother-in-law, Melvin Franke. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Miriam Dressler, and brother, Freeman Dressler. Visitation Friday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana from 1 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Service at St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock, Monroeville, Indiana at 11:00 a.m.Saturday, September 12, 2009 with visitation one hour prior to service.
