Hazel Gerardot, 89 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2010 in the Village of Heritage located in Monroeville, Indiana. She was a resident of Decatur for 65 years. Hazel was born on Sunday, December 12, 1920 in Salem, Illinois the daughter of the late Etta (Vaughn) Beck. She married the late Lawrence E. Gerardot on January 18, 1939 in St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon and he passed away on April 15, 1997. They were married for 58 years. Hazel was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville, Indiana.. She was Hazel was a homemaker and loved to play Euchre. Surviving are her daughter, Sally A. (Ed) Schwehn of New Haven, Indiana; daughter, Mary L. (Charles) Jauregui of Decatur, Indiana; son, Daniel L. Gerardot of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Ed A. Gerardot of Mooresville, Indiana; son, Don J. (Diana) Gerardot of Monroeville, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren. Preceding Hazel in death were one son, David Gerardot in 1940 (infancy); two grandchildren: David & Debbie Wiseman; one daughter-in-law, Alice Gerardot in 2008; one great-grandson, Jacob Wasson; one great-granddaughter, Terra Beahrs; and one sister, Helen Eikleberry. A Prayer Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Friday, in the St. Rose Catholic Church with Fr. Stephen Colchin officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery - Besancon, New Haven, Indiana. Friends will be received from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana. A Rosary will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are Masses to the Church; Monroeville EMS; or Monroeville Fire Dept.
