Russell E. Weldy, 58 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 11:23 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2008 in the Bluffton Regional Medical Center located in Bluffton, Indiana where he had been a patient for 2 ½ weeks. He had been ill for several years. Russell was born on Saturday, January 14, 1950 in Decatur, Indiana the son of the late Jack M. Weldy (he passed away on October 27, 2001) and the late Josephine V. (Sheets) Weldy (she passed away on August 2, 2008). He married Dawn L. Andrews on November 21, 1970 and she survives. Russell was a maintenance technician for the Crown Group in Ft. Wayne, Indiana; was formerly employed for several years at Decatur Casting in Decatur; and Hayes Wheels in Huntington, Indiana. Surviving are his wife, Dawn L. Weldy of Decatur, Indiana, son, Jack C. Weldy of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Kimberly S. (David) Grear of Sylvania, Ohio, son, Max H. (Sarah) Weldy of Decatur, Indiana, son, Russell E. Weldy II of Decatur, Indiana, brother, Jack M. (Dawn) Weldy Jr. of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Wauneta "Otis" (Neil) Kegerreis of Pennville, Indiana, brother, Lloyd E. (Tami) Weldy of Decatur, Indiana, brother, Michael V. Weldy of Geneva, Indiana, and ten grandchildren: Nicholas Weldy, Jacob Weldy, Micah Weldy, Stephen Grear, Taylor Grear, Lauren Grear, McKenzie Weldy, Logan Weldy, Sophia Weldy, and Gabriel Weldy. Preceding Russell in death was one grandson, Kirk Melcher. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Lovelace officiating. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Adams County Community Foundation-Cancer Fund.
