Zelma J. Buettner, 85 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 in the Woodcrest Nursing Center located in Decatur. She was born on Friday, July 8, 1921 in Clawson, Michigan the daughter of the late Ora C. Jackson and the late Margaret J. (Meyer) Jackson. She married the late Walter J. Buettner on June 12, 1940 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and he passed away in 1987. Zelma and her husband, Walter, were Charter Members of Peace Lutheran Church in Berne, Indiana and she was currently a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur. She was a past president of the Garden Club and Decatur Homemaker's Club. She was a homemaker and had worked at General Electric Company from 1949 to 1953. She was also previously employed by J.J. Newberry in Decatur. Surviving are her daughter, Cynthia L. Herman of Fort Wayne, Indiana, son, W. James "Jim" Buettner of Ohio City, Ohio, daughter, Sylvia L. Smitley of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Sheila R.) Huntington of Indianapolis, Indiana, nine grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Preceding Zelma in death were two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Bruick officiating. Interment will be in Alberson Cemetery, Linn Grove, Indiana later in the day. Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2007 in the Woodcrest Chapel, Decatur and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana or Worship for Shut-Ins.
