Arnold L. Conrad, 90 years old of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, passed away at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at his residence in Lutheran Life Villages located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Arnold was born on Wednesday, January 21, 1920 in Preble, Indiana the son of the late Otto Conrad and the late Frieda (Eickhoff)Conrad. He married Cora Jane Emenhiser on March 24, 1948 in Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim in rural Decatur, Indiana and she survives. Arnold was a member of the St. Michael Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was a former board member and chairman at Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur, IN; a former board member and chairman at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ft. Wayne, IN; and a former board member of the Lutheran Homes Inc., now known as Lutheran Life Villages. He was also a member of the American Institute of CPA's, and the Indiana Association of CPA's. He was a graduate of Monmouth High School Class of 1939; Indiana State Teachers College Class of 1943; receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree; a graduate of Indiana University in 1950 with an MBA. Arnold taught at Pleasant Mills High School for 1 year followed by Decatur High School for 4 years. He then began his accounting career in Ft. Wayne, ending 35 years later at Baden-Conrad-Gage & Schroeder where he retired in 1986. He enjoyed traveling and sports. Arnold served his country during World War II in the United States Navy in the South Pacific as a communications officer on a submarine tender. Surviving are his wife, Cora Jane Conrad of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Preceding Arnold in death were two brothers, Walter and Ralph Conrad. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in the Chapel of Lutheran Life Villages with Chaplain David Griebel officiating. Interment will follow in the Concordia Cemetery Garden, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the Chapel of Lutheran Life Villages.
