Herman L. Everett, 79 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 in the Adams Memorial Hospital. He was born on Thursday, January 8, 1931 in St. Paris, Ohio the son of the late Leland Everett and the late Clara Koenig. He married Phyllis J. Hockemeyer on January 23, 1954 in St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen. Herman was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Signal Corp. during the Korean Conflict. He was a memeber of Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim and the American Legion Post #43. Herman was a longtime Root Township farmer and retired in 1992 from Thunderbird Products. He also previously worked at Zintsmaster Motors for seventeen years. He was a graudate of Decatur High School Class of 1948. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis J. Everett of Decatur, son, Randy (Pam) Everett of Decatur, son, Rod (Lori) Everett of Mukwonago, Wisconsin, four grandchildren; Karly & Kolton Everett of Decatur and Erin & Ben Everett of Mukwonago, Wisconsin, great-grandchild, Kaden Everett of Decatur, brother, Kenneth (Geri) Everett of Decatur, and half-sister, Gloria (Tom) Westfall, Texas. Preceding Herman in death was his step-father, Ben Trout. A prayer service will be held at 9:45 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur followed by funeral services at 10:30 a.m. in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Friedheim with Pastor Daniel Dahling officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Friedheim. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 19 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Preferred memorials are to Wyneken Memorial Lutheran School or the Adams County Community Foundation - Dementia/Alzheimers.
