Stephen W. Stoppenhagen, 59 years old, formerly of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his residence in Fairburn, Georgia on Wednesday, June 27, 2007. Steve was born on September 25, 1947 in Decatur, Indiana, the son of the late Wilbert E. Stoppenhagen and Lucile E. (Steele) Stoppenhagen, who survives. Steve was a former member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim. Steve was self-employed as a custom auto body refinisher. Surviving are his daughter, Jodi Baldwin of Portage, Indiana, granddaughter, Taylor Baldwin of Portage, Indiana, mother, Lucile E. (Marvin) Stoppenhagen of Ossian, Indiana, sister, Sylvia (Jerry) Allen of Gretna, Nebraska, sister, Sheila Stoppenhagen of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, sister, Sandy (Ken) Uhrick of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Sharlene (Glenn) Hempel of Willis, Texas, brother, Stan (Tami) Stoppenhagen of Decatur, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Dahling officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Friedheim, in rural Decatur, Indiana. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2007 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 29, 2007 in Newnan, Georgia. Preferred memorials are to American Heart Association or to the Donor's Choice.
