John Michael Cole

John Michael "Mike" Cole, 67 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at his residence. Mike was born on August 3, 1939 in Adams County, Indiana, the son of the late Gerald O. Cole and the late Mildred B. (Liddy) Cole. He married Dorothy Lucille Knittle on December 25, 1958 in rural Decatur, Indiana. John served in the United States Army in Germany as a helicopter mechanic. Mike attended Crossroads Church in Decatur, Indiana. He was a graduate of Decatur High School Class of 1957. Mike retired in 2000 from Huhtamaki in the maintenance department after 15 years of service. He had also worked at International Harvester in Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Roman Meal; and Arnold Lumber in Decatur, Indiana. Surviving are his wife, Lucille Cole of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Gwendolyn D. (Mark) Cook of Convoy, Ohio, son, James M. (Colleen) Cole of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Deborah R. Cole of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Rebecca S. (Chip) Steensma of Hicksville, Ohio, son, Brian P. (Shelby) Cole, of York, Pennsylvania, brother, David Cole of Decatur, Indiana, brother, Roger Cole of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Barbara French, of Mesquite, Nevada, brother, Dan Cole, of Mesquite, Nevada, nine grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2006 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana with the Rev. Carey Knittle officiating. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2006 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to the Pathways Adult Daycare Program.
