John E. Gribler, 80 years old of Willshire, Ohio, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2011 in the Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert; where he had been a patient for two days. He was born on Tuesday, July 22, 1930 in Van Wert County, Ohio the son of the late Ernest E. Gribler and the late Hazel V. (Agler) Gribler. He married Mary Lou Gaunt on October 5, 1957. John served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Japan. He attended Pleasant Mills Baptist Church and had previously attended the Willshire Church of God. He was a lifetime member of the Willshire American Legion Post #207. John had been employed with Phelps Dodge Indiana Rod & Wire Division for over twenty-three years. He retired from All American Homes in Decatur after 4 ½ years. Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou Gribler of Willshire, Ohio, son, John W. (Tami) Gribler of Decatur, Illinois, son, Bradley E. (Tonya) Gribler of Fort Wayne, Indiana, sister, Clara Rose Stone of Jasper, Indiana, grandson, Nicholas (Molly) Gribler of Decatur, Illinois and grandson, Blake Gribler of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Preceding John in death were his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Gribler, two brothers; Karl and Raymond Gribler and three sisters; Edith Roehm, Opal May and Norma Price. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur with Pastor Richard Sprunger & Pastor Delores Rayle officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City, Ohio . Friends will be received from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Preferred memorials are to Pleasant Mills Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
