Clare S. Eddy, 89 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 1:35 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2007 in the Bluffton Regional Hospital located in Bluffton, Indiana. Clare was born on April 2, 1917 in Huntington, Indiana the son of the late Rev. Gilbert A. Eddy and the late Stella I. (Springer) Eddy. He married Eloise M. Miller on August 11, 1945 in Decatur, Indiana and she survives. Clare was a member of Decatur United Brethren Church, which is now the Cornerstone Community Church, in Decatur, Indiana. Clare retired in 1980 from Magnavox in Ft. Wayne, Indiana with 37 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Eloise M. Eddy of Berne, Indiana, son, Scott G. (Rebecca S.) Eddy of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Mabel Bowen of Bradenton, Florida, sister, Thalya Lehman of Louisville, Kentucky, sister, Gilda Kennedy of Royal West Palm Beach, Florida, four grandchildren: Philip (Sherry) Fretz II of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Elizabeth Fretz of Dayton, Ohio; Nathan Eddy of Decatur, Indiana; Alyssa Eddy of Decatur, Indiana; and four great-grandchildren: Matthew Fretz, Aaron Fretz, Lydia Fretz, and Micah Fretz, all of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Preceding Clare in death were one daughter, Sheila M. Fretz; two brothers, Loy and Paul Eddy; and two sisters, Gladys Emrick and Evelyn Genth. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2007 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana with Pastor Mark Beers officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Indiana. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2007 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to the Cornerstone Community Church.
