Lorinda F. Koeneman

Lorinda F. Koeneman, 94 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2011 in the Village of Heritage where she had resided since April of 2010. She was born on Saturday, August 19, 1916 in Allen County, Indiana the daughter of the late William F. Hockemeyer and the late Clara (Thieme) Hockemeyer. She married Oscar W. Koeneman on May 17, 1936 and he passed away on July 7, 1993. Lorinda was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock and the Ladies Aid at the church. She retired in 1986 as the head cook with the East Allen County Schools after twenty years of service. Lorinda loved gardening, quilting and being with people. She also enjoyed playing cards and the Senior Citizens Group at Flatrock Church. Surviving are her son, Dennis D. (Eleda) Koeneman of Monroeville, daughter, Carol (Phil) Lydy of New Haven, son-in-law, Bob Schaefer of Fort Wayne, brother, Edward Hockemeyer of Monroeville, sister, Arnita (Marvin) Schroeder of Hoagland, eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter. Preceding Lorinda in death were one daughter, Shirley J. Schaefer and one sister, Elvira Fuelling. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock with Rev. Douglas Christian officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 18 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church or Worship for Shut-Ins.
