Glen E. Schmoll, 85 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 9:12 a.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2009 in the Adams Memorial Hospital located in Decatur. Glen was born on Sunday, December 23, 1923 in Creston, Iowa the son of the late George Roy Schmoll and the late Olive (Wadell) Schmoll. He married Betty J. Douglas on July 7, 1946 in Hiawatha, Kansas. Glen was a former member of the Decatur Moose Ldge #1311 and was currently a member of the American Legion Post #43 in Decatur. He had been an active bowler since 1961 and is in the Adams County Bowlers Hall of Fame. Glen served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Glen retired from Gilpin Inc. with 20 years of service. Following his retirement, he returned to Gilpin's and worked there until his illness forced him to stop in December of 2008. Surviving are his wife, Betty J. Schmoll of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Beth L. Mansfield of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; son, Steven G. (Lisa) Schmoll of Columbia City, Indiana; four granddaughters, one grandson, one step-grandson, and one great-grandson. Preceding Glen in death was one daughter, Penelope A. "Penny" Schinnerer; three sisters and two brothers. Private family services were held Tuesday, February 10, 2009. Preferred memorials are to donor's choice.
