Gerald L. Hoblet

Gerald L. Hoblet, 75 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 9:19 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 in the Parkview Hospital located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Gerald was born on Tuesday, December 6, 1932 in Adams County, Indiana, the son of the late L. Orville Hoblet and the late A. Ruth (McGough) Hoblet. He married Patricia "Pat" Black on May 23, 1954 and she survives. They celebrated 54 years of marriage of May 23, 2008. Gerald was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur, Indiana; Adams Post #43 American Legion and former member of the Color Guard and also a Past Commander of the Post. Gerald served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Gerald retired in 1993 from General Electric; and also farmed from 1955 thru 1970. Surviving are his wife, Pat Hoblet of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Gwen Hoblet of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Dawn Hoblet (Randal Gallmeyer) of Mansfield, Connecticut, brother, Donald (Harriet) Hoblet of Archbold, Ohio, four grandchildren: Meghann Geyer, Joel Geyer, Emma Gallmeyer, and Sam Gallmeyer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Gadbaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Willshire Cemetery, Willshire, Ohio. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Adams Post #43 Color Guard. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana; and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Preferred memorials are to Adams County Community Foundation-Angel Fund or the Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur, Indiana.
