Merl D. Hankins, 78 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2007 in the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Merl was born on Saturday, July 20, 1929 in Overbrook, Kansas, the daughter of the late George E. Brown and the late Gladys (Johnson) Brown. She married the late Joe F. Hankins on November 20, 1951 in Bluffton, Indiana and he passed away on April 1, 1996. Merl was homemaker. Surviving are her son, Dennis J. Hankins of Decatur, Indiana, son, Donald J. Hankins of Kansas City, Kansas, son, Daniel J. (Caren) Hankins of Monroeville, Indiana, brother, L. Neal Brown, sister, Bertha Stevens, sister, Sharon M. Nagle, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Preceding Merl in death were six brothers, C. Robert; Berl E. (twin); Carl A.; Jerry E.; Arthur; and David Brown. The Hankins family wishes to thank the Monroeville EMS for their many years of services to Merl. There is no visitation or funeral service.
