Robert Carl Peters, 69 years old of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away at 5:18 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at his residence. Bob was born on Friday, March 8, 1940 in Garrett, Indiana the son of the late Walter Peters and the late Lillie (Kock) Peters. He married Jeanette Schroeder on July 30, 1961 in St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen and she survives. Bob was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen; the Heritage Lions Club in Hoagland; and was a graduate of the Garrett High School Class of 1958. He enjoyed fishing, IU basketball, NASCAR and Jeff Gordon, woodworking, and gardening. Bob retired from B.F. Goodrich in 1997 as a forklift operator after 36 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Jeanette Peters of Hoagland, Indiana, daughter, Kim E. Bergman of Monroeville, Indiana, son, Dan (Amy) Peters of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Joyce (Tims) Draughon of Conyers, Georgia, daughter, Sheri (Troy) Schlemmer of Decatur, Indiana, son, Michael (Kari) Peters of New Haven, Indiana, brother, Norman (Janet) Peters of Tinley Park, Illinois, sister, Joan (Dick) Olds of Golden Valley, Arizona, brother, Wayne (Sherrill) Peters of Auburn, Indiana, eight grandchildren: Andrea Brookmyer; Jessica Brookmyer; Cody Peters; Chelsea Bergman; Robert Bergman; Jordan and Jonathon Gerber; and Benjamin Peters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Pastor John Dreyer officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Bingen. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to Worship For Shut-Ins; St. John Bingen; or Parkview Hospice.
