Rex A. Gerber, 52 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 4:00 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012 at his residence following an illness. Rex was born on Tuesday, February 16, 1960 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of the late Meredith Wayne Gerber and the late Lois (Heckler) Gerber. He married Pamela Spieth on October 11, 1980 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hessen Cassel and she survives. Rex was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Monroeville. He was also a 1979 graduate of Heritage High School. He loved camping and fishing. Rex was employed as an asset protection officer at Best Buy in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was also a volunteer fireman with the Poe, Hoagland, New Haven, and Adams Township Fire Departments from 1979-2001. Surviving are his wife, Pamela Gerber of Monroeville, IN; daughter, Melissa Gerber of Monroeville, IN; daughter, April M. (Cameron) Bletzacker of Monroeville, IN; brother, Gale (Sarah) Gerber of Nappanee, IN; brother, Dale (Laurie) Gerber of Monroeville, IN; brother, Terry (Kelly) Gerber of Huntertown, IN; sister, Julie Gerber-Tally of Beualville, NC; brother, Bryan (Dawn) Gerber of Hoagland, IN. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2012 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel with Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, in Monroeville, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Preferred memorials are to Cancer Services of America; Parkview Hospice; or Donor's Choice.
