Herman C. Linnemeier, 90 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 in the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home located in Fort Wayne. He was born on Monday, October 17, 1921 in Allen County, Indiana the son of the late Edward Linnemeier and the late Nora (Thiele) Linnemeier. He married Ruth Wietfeldt on September 27, 1941 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Fuelling in Decatur. Herman served in the United States Army during WWII in the European Theater as a truck driver. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen and the Adams Post #43 American Legion in Decatur. He was self-employed in masonry construction and farming. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Linnemeier of Decatur, son, Eugene Allen (Jan) Linnemeier of Decatur, daughter, Karen Sue (Ken) Short of Fort Wayne, sister, Dorothy (Wilmer) Rodenbeck of Fort Wayne, sister, Mildred Schrenk of Monroe, Wisconsin, brother, Alvin (Laverne) Linnemeier of Fort Wayne, six grandchildren; Michael (Rhonda) Linnemeier, Kevin (Dawn) Linnemeier, Randy (Jillian) Short, Richard (Kristin) Short, Ryan (Jessica) Linnemeier & Kristin (John) Reuille and thirteen great-grandchildren. Preceding Herman in death were a sister, Hilda Kammeier and a brother, Louis Linnemeier. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Pastor Peter Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery , Bingen. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, December 16 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen; Wyneken Memorial Lutheran School; or Worship For Shut Ins.
