Robert C. Meyer, 87 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2006 in the Adams Memorial Hospital located in Decatur, Indiana. Robert was born on January 12, 1919 in Decatur, Indiana, the son of the late Ludolph R. Meyer and the late Dorothea (Eckhardt) Meyer. He married Marjorie L. Scheumann on August 4, 1948 in Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur, and she survives. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen, where he held all church offices except trustee, and was currently the Bible Class Superintendent. He was a member of the Men's Club; former Dean of Decatur Lutheran Bible Institute for 11 years and was a board member for 18 years. Robert served his country in the United States Army Air Force during World War II as a Master Sergeant in the European Theater. Robert owned and operated Meyer Service Station in the Bingen area for over 50 years retiring in 1986. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie L. Meyer of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Joy H. Meyer of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Patricia F.) Seeman of Indianapolis, Indiana, and two grandchildren: Paul M. Seeman and Trisha J. Seeman. Preceding Robert in death were one sister, Elenore Kerr and one step-brother, Eugene "Gene" Boitet; and step-mother, Justeen Meyer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2006 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Rev. Thomas Olson officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Bingen. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2006 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen; Worship For Shut-Ins; or the donor's choice.
