John Doyle Stetler, 81 years old of Van Wert, Ohio, and formerly a longtime resident of Willshire, Ohio passed away at 8:36 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at his residence. Doyle was born on Wednesday, September 12, 1928 in Willshire, Ohio the son of the late Raymond L. Stetler and the late Jessie A. (Earhardt) Stetler. He married Letta M. Walls on September 17, 1950 in Van Wert, Ohio and she survives. Doyle was a lifelong member of the Willshire United Methodist Church, where he held many offices of the church. Doyle was a founding member of the Willshire Sportsman Club where he remained active. Doyle was a Willshire Township dairy farmer; was a school bus driver with Parkway and Willshire Schools; and was employed at the GE Decatur, Indiana. Doyle also served as a member of the Parkway School Board. Surviving are his wife, Letta M. Stetler of Van Wert, Ohio; daughter, Nancy M. (Donald Gray) Stetler of Warren, Indiana; daughter, Brenda K. (Steve) Johnson of Ohio City, Ohio; daughter, Marilyn R. (Donny) Baxter of Willshire, Ohio; daughter, Penny Sue (Calvin) Heller of Kingston, Tennessee; daughter, Jody M. (Tom) Bigham of Venedocia, Ohio; sister, Marjorie Knittle of Spencerville, Ohio; six grandchildren: Ryan & Dena Dailey, B.G. Baxter, Trudy Baxter, Brittany & Savannah Bigham; and four great-grandchildren: Sidney, Libby, Maddy, and Josie Baxter. Preceding Doyle in death were 4 grandchildren: Karmen & Tina Baxter; Jacob & Jessica Heller; 1 sister and 1 brother in infancy; 3 sisters: Alice M. DeArmond, Doris Poiling, and Louise Huffine. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor Bud Larimore officiating. Interment will follow in the Willshire Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1:30 - 4:00 and 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Willshire Sportsman Club.
