Johanna C. Buuck, 97 years old of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away at 12:04 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2011 in the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center located in Van Wert, Ohio. Johanna was born on Wednesday, February 11, 1914 in New Haven, Indiana the daughter of the late Rev. H. B. Kohlmeier and the late Lydia (Boettcher) Kohlmeier. Her first husband was Wilfred Rafert, married on December 25, 1936 and he passed away on November 18, 1963; her second husband was Erwin Buuck, married on February 12, 1972 and he passed away on January 3, 1982. Johanna was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim where she had been the organist and choir director. Johanna retired from teaching after 26 years of service. She had taught at St. Paul Lutheran School; Preble School; Zion Friedheim School; and Wyneken School. Surviving are her daughter, Gretchen (Larry) Etzler of Napoleon, Ohio; daughter, Eunice (Robert) Mefferd of Convoy, Ohio; daughter, Winifred (Robert) McNergney of Spring Lake, Michigan; daughter, Kathleen (Donald) Brown of Decatur, Indiana; son, Jan Rafert of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; brother, George Kohlmeier of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; sister, Gretchen Furhmann of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; step-daughter, Marcille Buuck of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; step-son, Duane Buuck of Bedford, Texas; sixteen grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, twenty eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceding Johanna in death were three brothers, and seven sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2011 in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Friedheim with Rev. Daniel Dahling officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Friedheim. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2011 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim or Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown, Wisconsin.
