Eugene L. "Gene" Lothamer, 80 years old of Woodburn, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on Sunday, August 4, 1929 in Allen County, Indiana the son of the late Raymond Lothamer and the late Bernadette (Voirol) Lothamer. He married Catherine Bellis on July 25, 1953 in St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon. Gene was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon, V.F.W. of New Haven, Indiana and the American Legion of Orland, Indiana. He retired from International Harvester in 1985 with thirty years of service. Surviving are his wife, Catherine Lothamer of Woodburn, daughter, Val Rae (Mark) Sadler of Fort Wayne, son, Scott E. Lothamer of Woodburn, son, Jeff (Terri) Lothamer of Monroeville, daughter, Regina (Mike) Miller of Angola, brother, Richard Lothamer of Grabill, brother, Robert Lothamer of Woodburn, brother, Bernard Lothamer of Fort Wayne, brother, Herman Lothamer of Monroeville, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceding Eugene in death were one sister, Agnes Henry and three brothers; Joseph, Charles & Lawrence Lothamer . A Prayer service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon with Father Stephen Colchin officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery - Besancon. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 15 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville. A rosary service will be held Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Masses, Parkview Hospice or the Cancer Society of Northeast Indiana.
