Dorothy Bixler, 96 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at her residence. She was born on Tuesday, April 4, 1916 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Lawrence J. Heckman and the late Anna (Bultemeier) Heckman. She married Roy Bixler on October 18, 1947 in Adams County, Indiana and he passed away on June 5, 2010. Dorothy was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen where she was active in the Ladies Guild. She was also a past president of General Electric's Elex Club. She was a homemaker and retired in 1981 from General Electric with thirty-two years of service. Surviving are her son, Don A. Bixler of Decatur, Indiana; son, John L. (Terri) Bixler of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and sister, Alice Klingel of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Stacey (J.D.) Pulver; Matthew (HyunJu) Bixler; John (Kristin) Bixler; Erin Bixler; & Nathan Bixler and two great-grandchildren, Madalyn & Carson Pulver. Preceding Dorothy in death was a brother, Edward Heckman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Pastor Peter Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery , Bingen. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen or Worship for Shut-Ins.
