William O. "Bill" Baker, 75 years old of Willshire, Ohio, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2009. He died unexpectedly at a job site in rural Convoy, Ohio. Bill was born on Monday, September 18, 1933 in Willshire Township, Ohio the son of the late Walter Baker and the late Rosa (Dietrich) Baker. He was a graduate of Willshire High School Class of 1951 and he served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He married Berniece L. Werling on May 10, 1959. He owned and operated Baker Construction for 50 years and was a longtime Willshire township farmer. Bill was a lifelong active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Schumm and was a member of American Legion Willshire Homer Pierson Post and the Willshire Lion's Club. Surviving are his wife, Berniece L. Baker of Willshire, son, Brent A. (Beth) Baker of Willshire, son, Brian K. (Lorna) Baker of Willshire, daughter, Brenda L. (Todd) Matthews of Ohio City, four grandsons; Braden & Andrew Baker of Willshire & Tyler & Tanner Matthews of Ohio City and four granddaughters; Rebecca, Amie & Emilie Baker of Willshire & Danielle Matthews of Ohio City. Preceding William in death was one sister, Betty Baker. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009 in the Zion Lutheran Church, Schumm with calling one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Jeff Patterson will be officiating and interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Schumm. Friends will be received from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2009 and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.& 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church, Schumm.
